Turning waste into wonder.
In 2018 Resource Depot took over the Catwalk Student Fashion Show from Educational Gallery Group and I continued to work with them as an independent contractor for four years to help put on the program. This allowed me to explore a different creative vibe from my full-time work and the ability to pursue two personal passions of mine: art and sewing. Alongside their director of education, I planned the workshops, taught and guided the students through the process, hosted the runway show, created a gallery space to showcase the designs, and utilized my marketing skills to create promotional content.
Promotional and Video Content
Summary Video for 2021
Using imovie I created a video for Resource Depot to showcase what the Catwalk Student Fashion Show is from start to finish. This video was used to promote and boost registrations for the next year, and to satisfy grant requirements.
Summary Video for 2022
Using Canva, I put together this summary video using Resource Depot’s brand and voice to help promote Catwalk.
Virtual Workshops
When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit we didn’t want to cancel our beloved Catwalk program, but we had to pivot like the rest of the world to a virtual platform. I created training and informational videos to guide our designers, and lead virtual meetings through Zoom.
Social Media Promo: Runway
In an effort to increase visibility and boost attendance at our runway events, I created a series of social media videos using Canva.
Social Media Promo: Workshops
Because Catwalk is such a unique experience, we wanted to promote the workshops visually so parents and students could understand the process.
Gallery Exhibits
After every Catwalk runway event we collected and showcased the designs at Resource Depot’s Galle-RE. This was another opportunity for students to show their work and add to their own personal portfolios. From hanging and layout, to descriptions and signage, I was involved from start to finish.
